Still-life Sessions
Bring a thing. Bring three. Bring a story.
Join a lively still life session where 8–12 of us gather to make one collective arrangement—each person contributing an object that means something to them. We’ll pile memories, curiosities, and everyday treasures into a single composition and, together with the artist, shape it into a scene that tells a small, surprising story.
What to expect
A warm circle of makers: small group size keeps things personal and playful.
Bring-your-own-object: anything goes — a chipped teacup, a childhood toy, a dried spray of lavender, a ticket stub, a found rock. Objects are chosen for meaning, not perfection.
Collaborative construction: we’ll arrange the objects as a group, moving pieces, testing light and balance, and deciding together what the still life wants to be.
Slow looking practice: the artist will guide short, gentle exercises in observation — noticing texture, shadow, posture, and the quiet conversations objects have with each other.
Mixed-material outcome: using paint, collage, or drawing, each participant will create a small piece inspired by the collective arrangement. No pressure—just playful experiments that let the materials and memories play together.
Conversation and reflection: share the stories behind your objects if you like, listen to others, and notice how different meanings shift when items meet in a new context.
Why it’s special
It’s about more than pretty things: slow looking turns quick glances into curious attention, and attention turns objects into stories.
You’ll walk away with a meaningful keepsake: something made by your hand, inspired by a group-made still life, and rooted in layered personal meaning.
Perfect for new friends, old friends, curious neighbors, explorers of small moments, and anyone who loves making.
Come with an object and an open eye. Leave with a new way of seeing—and something lovely to keep.
